Description

DESCRIPTION

Hand-made by Yasaburo Tanimura, the 25th generation chasen maker who has carried on his family’s 500-year-old tradition. It is made from soothed bamboo which used to be a part of interior of traditional Japanese houses that were torn down. The bamboo was originally white in color, but has been naturally smoked by the charcoal burning in the houses for over 100 years, as old as the houses, before being taken down and made into this matcha scoop.
This naturally soothed bamboo is becoming rare as there are less and less traditional styel wooden houses nowadays.

The size and grip is perfect for scooping matcha. The surface is so smooth that matcha powder do not get stuck in the bamboo texture.
